The expansion of materials accepted into the program combined with an increase in recycling rates will not only reduce the amount of material entering the waste stream, it will also generate revenue and jobs; for every 1,000 tons of waste diverted, 4.7 jobs are created compared to only 2.5 jobs for every 1,000 tons of waste disposed.
