I’m from Mexico and I’ve lived here in Baltimore City for eleven years. We started our group to make our concerns public, to have a voice. Whatever happens in our community, Latinos have always remained silent because of fear, of what will happen to those who are undocumented. But we have a voice and we need to be heard. Before we started organizing, we didn’t have much information. We did not know where to go, who to talk to, or what to tell others. But now people come to us — they come to tell us what we need to know, yes, and we pass those resources onto the people who need them; but they also come to listen to us. They want to know who we are and what we have to say, what the community needs and what we want.
