The Baltimore Office of Sustainability and Commission on Sustainability were tasked to create a plan for Baltimore to become more sustainable.
The Commission kicked off plan development at a public meeting in May of 2008. The Baltimore Sustainability Plan’s public engagement process, which ultimately engaged over 1,000 citizens over an eight month period, gathered and analyzed ideas, studied best practices, and developed aspirations for a more sustainable city. The Baltimore Sustainability Plan articulates 29 goals toward improving Baltimore and is designed as a resource to help guide actions and decisions in ways that benefit people, the economy, and the environment.
